The Groundfish Forum is a meeting place for leading members of the groundfish business worldwide. The primary aims of the Forum are to increase understanding of conditions in the groundfish industry, exchange information regarding government resource and other decisions, and provide better opportunities for all industry participants and consumers.
The Groundfish Forum conference is held once a year. The first Groundfish Forum was held in Hamburg, Germany, in October 1992. Since then, the Forum has been held each October in various European cities, including Copenhagen, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Bergen, Prague and Reykjavik. The 19th Groundfish Forum was held in Auckland, New Zealand and since then the Forum has met in Barcelona, Berlin, Vienna, Rome, Cape Town, Hamburg, Lisbon and London. The 28th Groundfish Forum was in Berlin on October 15–17, 2019.
Due to COVID-19 the 29th Groundfish Forum is postponed by one year and will be held in Seattle WA, USA on October 12–14, 2021.
Parallel to that decision, we announced that to support you and remain faithful to the role of the Forum, we would gather the session on Global Trends in Supply and Utilization and deliver it to you in October this year.
To do so, Groundfish Forum will hold a 90-minute webinar on October 14th, 2020. During the webinar, selected speakers will also give short addresses on supply, demand and outlook during these exceptional times.
Our primary focus is on keeping our employees and our families safe and healthy. However, we want to do our best to maintain connections and the flow of information to our Groundfish Forum Participants. We are proud of the Forum and the strong network it has created over the years. With the upcoming webinar, we are putting effort to maintain those connections.
The webinars agenda and other information will be sent later in September.
Groundfish Forum is open to senior executives of any company which is substantially engaged in the processing of groundfish or the active marketing, distribution and sale of products made from groundfish to the final consumer. Groundfish includes the major capture species in international trade together with selected farmed finfish species. Forum attendance is limited to about 300 participants but is also subject to the capacity of the meeting room at the hotel venue.
